Give a brief outline of your career to date.
I graduated from QUB in 1989 with a degree in Political Science. After that, I worked in sales continuously until 2018 during which time I was employed by a record company, a coffee roaster, wine and spirits supplier, and latterly hygiene companies. It was by its nature varied and interesting.
What does your job in CILNI entail?
My post involves working in the Payroll Dept where I process payroll for our clients and handle queries and hopefully answer them. I am now office-based which is a novelty for me.
What is a typical day like?
My work involves preparing the monthly payroll for clients and assisting with queries which can be about HMRC, sick pay, annual leave. There will in the course of the day be phone or voicemail shifts to deal with those queries.
What do you like most about your job?
It is the most mixed and varied workforce in which I have worked which is refreshing and thought-provoking and as a charity, it is assisting people to live their lives independently and give them more choice.
Favourite sports or pastimes:
I like dogs and have two of my own. I go to the cinema, theatre and gigs quite a lot. I enjoy music, eating out, and wine.
What is your favourite;
Song: I Say a Little Prayer – Aretha Franklin
Movie: Silence of the Lambs
Book: The Unbearable Lightness of Being
