You should pay the PA in full for their contracted hours. If they do not have regular hours, an average week can be worked out by taking their last 12 working weeks’ pay and dividing it by 12 to get on week’s average pay – Please contact your Employer Insurance Company – 24 hours Employment Law Advice Line for further assistance.

Related Duties – you could also consider related duties while your PA is unable to enter your home due to Coronavirus. You could agree on other possible duties with your PA:

  • Collect or do your shopping and drop at your door. Use a telephone call to organise this.  You could leave a shopping list and money at your door for your PA to collect and deliver goods back to your door, or call your local shop, pay via the telephone and your PA could collect and drop to your door.
  • Collect and deliver your medication from the pharmacy and drop at your door.
  • Make regular phone or video calls to maintain regular contact during self-isolation.

Please also discuss when possible with your key worker/social worker within your local Trust.
