If I have surplus in my DP budget, can surplus funds be used for items such as PPE to control infection without getting permission from Trust? – Updated 24/4/2020

Yes you can use your Direct Payment surplus to purchase PPE items of protective clothing – If the following conditions are met:

  • care is being provided following the COVID 19 guidance for Domiciliary Care providers in NI
  • and advice is followed around Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for health and social care workers in the community/primary care (Public Health Agency)

HOWEVER, the usual protocol for payment must be followed using a cheque, bank transfer or online banking and noted on the bank statement, for monthly returns to the Finance Team in each individual HSCT.
